Someone up there must hate us, if deities even exist.

It's been a difficult week; for me, for some of my lj-friends and for others who have lost someone dearly beloved this week. For instance, over 1000 children have died of some kind of japanese brain fever in India since this summer. How do you cope with such things? Car accidents, natural disasters, bombs... Could we get a refund on this week? Pretty please?

This week has indeed sucked massively and topped it with an earthquake.
This week needs to go to its room, have a good think about what its done and when its resolved to do better, repeat it properly this time.

You should be this week's mother, instead of this year; especially considering all the other tragedies that occurred during the winter-autumn period.

The worst thing about the Japanese Encephalitis, I feel, is that most victims of the disease don't die, they 'merely' are left brain damaged for life. If, as one of the commenters I was reading said, there are at least 1000 dead, how many more are now brain damaged? The most appalling thing of all, of course, is that there's a perfectly good vaccine for the disease. This should never have happened.

((((hugs)))) for the bad time you've been having, hon. The world is a very depressing place currently, both internationally and personally.

Oh, I know. It's unfathomable. But just blaming the pharmaceutical companies, which many people do, is not enough; and it's misplaced in many cases, though perhaps not in this instance. Something needs to be done on both national and international level. I just don't know what.

I can't remember if I commented on your post the other day; I'm relieved to hear you received a proper diagnosis, at least. Also, I finally listened to your autumn music, which was absolutely beautiful. Thank you. Good acoustics is transcending. *hugs*

Also, that icon is just gorgeous. I need more tree icons; you can't really discern all the firs in this one. :-)

Oh, I'm really glad you liked the autumn music. That's brill :)

My knowledge of the situation isn't good enough to blame anyone in particular for the JE situation. I'm not really that interested in blame actually. I'm keener for the jabs to get to the people who need them in future so this can't happen again, and I'm worried about the survivors.

You know, I need an undemanding task today. Maybe I'll make a tree icon set. :)

*falls off chair laughing from icon*

:-)

Oh, I didn't think you were. And my knowledge definitely isn't either. (This often happens when I go off on a detached tangent.) And yes, if I'm not mistaken the population is poor and rural. And unfortunately, I don't think people care as much as they should, internationally. Also, even if you do, you can't be sure your small efforts to help reach the ones in need. (Case in point: the tsunami relief.)

Ooh? :-)

How do you cope? That may be the real question about life, the universe and everything. We each have to find our own way, which involves everything from denial when it's the only way we can get through the next few hours, to action when we're indignant, to acceptance.

I'm so sorry things have been so horrible lately.

So it's not 42, then? Still haven't seen the film. Must do something about that.

That is so true.

Thank you. *hugs*

Yup! I'll take some of that refund, no problem. I'm feeling a bit low at the moment and, sadly, reading about all those terrible disasters, diseases and deaths, which should make my insignificant little problems fade away, I still feel down. It just doesn't work that way. Not with me, at least.

That peaty whiskey sounded nice, though. I like heather and moss.

Oh, I know. Knowing that you should feel grateful for what you have and all that doesn't make it so. *hears Patrick Stewart's voice* *has obviously seen too much ST:TNG growing up*

Oh, it's lovely. Really, truly smoky. :-)
